Diana Sonne is a Certified Counselor in Washington State. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at San Francisco State University and has also taken extensive post graduate classes, workshops and seminars including a 1-year certification program to become a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist. She also earned certification as a mediator. She worked in a hospital psychiatric setting for children and adolescents for 14 years, providing individual, group and family therapy.
She has provided Family Preservation Services since 1998 with a focus on areas such as communication, anger management, mediation, conflict resolution, decision making, effective parenting, stress and coping, behavior modification, organization and time management, family dynamics and community resources.
Diana has completed training to provide Project SafeCare services. She has earned both a home visitor and coach certificate thus being in the position to provide the services to families as well as work with and assess other professionals who have had the PSC basic training. PSC is a fairly new evidence based program. It addresses the needs of parents of children ages 0-5 in the areas of parent child interaction as well as health and safety instruction.
Diana has written a program, LifeSteps, to present to groups of children and adolescents, as well as their parents. The program teaches a variety of skills that address issues of emotional health, interactive relationships, empathetic responses and communication skills.
Through her studies and experience Diana has learned to utilize a balance between knowledge, intuition and creativity to provide services that meet her client's individual and family needs while building on their strengths.
