Whether as a Triple P, Family Preservation Services, or Parenting Assessment provider, Laura focuses on understanding goals and challenges from a systemic perspective. She also emphasizes working from a collaborative stance, with an emphasis on respecting and honoring each person's inherent expertise on themselves and ability to heal and change given supportive circumstances. She is also dedicated to working from a place of social equity/justice, with the goal of identifying understanding, and interrupting patterns of institutionalized oppression when they harm client opportunities for positive change.
Laura is also passionate about body integrated mental health and the power of getting outside. She is an avid mover, dancer, yoga practitioner/teacher, and outdoors person (climbing, hiking, backpacking, and skiing).
Laura received her BA in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2011. She worked in childcare prior to beginning her graduate studies at Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Counseling and Education. In 2016, she completed her Master of Arts Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy and shortly after starting working as a contracted therapist with Working Choices (alongside starting her private practice).
Laura is a certified Triple P provider (since 2017) and is also expected to complete certifications in Alternatives for Families - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (AF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 2020.
