Simone is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. In 2013 she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, double majoring in Community Psychology and American Studies at the University of Washington Bothell. Her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy was obtained from Antioch University Seattle in 2016. Additionally, in 2017 she finished a year-long program at Antioch University Seattle and acquired a Certification in Play Therapy. In that program she learned how to apply Child Centered Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, and Child Parent Relationship Therapy as effective therapeutic interventions.
She has experience in community mental health where she's worked with children, adolescents, teenagers and their families. She has also done a lot of collaboration with school systems. Additionally, Simone has been trained to do Family Preservation Services and Functional Family Therapy.
In therapy, Simone views the relationship as the central change agent. She also highly values utilizing the strengths that families already have to promote change. "I strongly believe in the tenets of play therapy and so I apply those lessons in my clinical work with families too, not just children. By overly focusing on the problem we often times lose sight of the family, interpersonal dynamics, environmental factors, and strengths that are necessary to be aware of in order to disrupt unhelpful patterns of communication. Therefore, by focusing on the relationship there is so much more to work with because the solutions are more systemically focused rather than individually based."
